Rosemary Lemon
Beer Cocktail
Prep Time 5 Minutes
Cocktail by Whimsy Soul
Yields 12 drinks
Rosemary lemon beer cocktail? Yes, yes, and yes—that’s all of my favorite ingredients in one drink.
For a Dinner with Friends, I wanted to craft a personal recipe that merged my roots (Wisconsin) and my home now (California). Wisconsin in the fall was all about sipping beer by the lake, but in California, wine is the go-to for every get-together. From this came the Rosemary Lemon Beer Cocktail, a part-shandy, part-sparkling wine, total crowd-pleaser. It satisfies your beer, wine, and cocktail lovers all in one tasty glass. Featuring complementary lemon flavors and fall-inspired rosemary, here is how to make my Wisconsin meets California cocktail!
Cook Time 30 Minutes
Ingredients
8 fresh rosemary sprigs bunch
6 pack of a summer shandy beer
1 bottle brut California Champagne
1 fresh lemon
1 tablespoon orange triple sec
2 cups water
2 cups sugar
Rosemary Simple Syrup
First, make the Rosemary simple syrup. This stuff is so good, I could drink it on its own.
1
Dissolve sugar into water in a small pot.
Add 6-8 sprigs fresh rosemary.
2
Bring to a boil and keep at a boil for one minute.
3
4
Remove from heat and let cool for 30 minutes.
Now, time to put your bartender hat on! I like to make this one glass at a time, but you can also easily make in bulk if needed.
Mixing the Cocktail
Fill 1/2 of your cocktail glass with shandy.
1
2
Fill to the top with Brut California Champagne. You may need to let the champagne fizz die down before topping it off.
3
Mix in 2 shots of your Rosemary Simple Syrup mixture.
Add in 1 shot Orange Triple Sec.
4
5
Gently stir. It may bubble over due to the carbonation, so be gentle!
Serving Tips
Serve by topping with lemon slices and a rosemary sprig for garnish. The rosemary from the simple syrup will be candied, which is perfect for cocktails!
Skip the cocktail shaker on this one, as the carbonation will cause everything to get foamy. Instead, gently stir the ingredients together!
You may be tempted to swap the Triple Sec for vodka to pack even more of a punch, but don’t—the vodka will be a bit too strong. Stick with a sweeter liqueur like Triple Sec.
Need to make a non-alcoholic version for your party? Use ginger beer instead of a shandy and add a tablespoon or two of fresh lemon juice to make up for the lost lemon flavor.
